Artarazzi 25

This is the image supplied on Artarazzi for challenge 25:

And this is my take on it:

I used filters etc to change the picture and imported and changed this picture:

'Present' card

Three challenges this week were calling for a different shaped card:

Caardvarks: 'shape up!'
3 clovers: challenge 15: 'ship-shape' (this is my first challenge entry there)
Creative Card Crew:challenge 11: 'shape it' (ooops, it's a bit late for this one)

I used my Cricut Wild Card cartridge to make this present card, using DCWV textured card, a piece of sticky ribbon and some Poundland bling.

What I like about this cartridge is that you can make a liner for the card and extra bits, like the paler bow stuck on the front.

A simple card

This is a quick simple card, achieved in odd moments in between a busy morning here.

Today on 365 cards (day 92) it's super sketchy Sunday - this is the sketch that's been given:

My card uses the colours on Colour Create challenge 17: lemon, pink sorbet and chocolate (I must confess that I totally forgot about the option of shabby chic, so no option for me this time).

I can't remember what the background paper is - it was in my offcuts box. The buckle was cut on my cricut.

Saturday 30 May 2009

You need your shades on for this one!

This card is for Day 90 on 365 cards: 'I see your two colors' - Use only 2 colors on your card (images may be stamped in black and cardstock may be white). As I didn't do any stamping for this card and I covered the base card, I've only used yellow and orange.

It's also for challenge 16 on The Pink Elephant, using this sketch:

And DCM this week ask us to 'take five' - feature five things that are the same - so mine are the yellow flowers surrounding the big bloom.

This is also for challenge 41: '3d motive' on Everybody Art.

Background paper is K & Co Brenda Walton Mira.

On the wings of love

The theme for week 60 on Sunday Stampers is 'on the wings of love'.

The theme on 365 cards today (day 91) is 'front and center' - keep every element of the card in the center - leaving lots of white space around the edges.

The card is also for this week's Created by hand challenge: 'insects'.

I've kept this card very simple - the butterfly is stamped with versamark and heat embossed with gold detail and the heart is an image I received in a swap, coloured with copics and mounted on 3d foam, although that's not obvious in this photo.

Nowadays I tend to use a lot of patterned paper on cards, so this makes a change.

A friendly monster

This card is for challenge 43 on Cutie Sunday, using this sketch:

Everything I used (except the stamped image, which was received in a swap - a Dewdrop Craftz friendly monster) was from my 'scraps' box, so I'm linking for this week's Papertake Weekly Challenge: 'scrap this!' where we were asked to use up scraps.

The colour scheme I've used fits in with two challenges:

Raspberry Suite Color challenge 6: brown, light aqua, white, coral pink
Secret Crafter Saturday challenge 34: pink, turquoise and a hint of brown

Also with Net's Cute Card Challenge on CBC.

Teen card

This is for Crafts4Eternity sketch 33, which specified that the card should be for a teenager:

and for Keryn's colour challenge 20:

I've used a Simpson's picture (I've used similar ones before the teen cards) and PM For Him paper, ribbons and stickers.

The piece of orange DCWV textured card has been embossed with a cuttlebug folder - the colours are just right for The Cuttlebug Spot challenge: 'brown, blue, or orange' or both, but definitely using brown. The 'happy birthday' sentiment was also cuttlebug embossed.

The card's also good for One Stop Craft challenge 31: 'let's hear it for the boys'.

Something completely different: Twinchies 3: birds

Thank you for all the good wishes for John. He had the op yesterday (toe amputation) and amazingly is now on his way home - that was ok'ed because I'm here to look after him. So I've been waiting this afternoon to hear details of when he'd be home, so I've felt a bit like a lost sheep. I decided to do a bit of crafting and chose something small (although actually I find that inchies and twinchies can take as long to make as cards!)

Twinchies 3 challenge on Something Completely Different this week is: 'birds'. When I did challenge 1: 'wings', I used a couple of lovely little birdie stamps - wish I'd done butterflies then, so this time I had to have a think as to what else I could do.

This is also good for this week's Mixed Media Monday challenge: 'feathered friends'.

I remembered that I have this seagull stamp and a nice sea/sand/marshland stamp, so I used the two together, masking the seagull one. The colouring is copics. The stamps are part of a set from rubbadubbadoo.

CBC May ATC swaps received

I received these lovely ATCs today from the CBC May swap, together with a lovely little tag from Jackie (okey-dokey) wishing John well. The ATC on the left is from Jackie and the one on the right is from Barbara (Crafty Barbie).

One in a melon

I've tried to keep busy this morning to try and help keep calm about John's op this afternoon - I'm not sure how much it's helped, but here's another card.

Today on 365 cards is: 'Imagine this: watermelon' -use the colors or an actual image of a watermelon on your card.

I've based the card on Sketch Saturday 52:

and also incorporated 'sparkling' for challenge 56 on Saturday's Workout and for Cute Card Thursday 62: 'bit o' bling'.

Challenge 63 on My Time to Craft is 'pink to make the boys wink!' - I think there's enough pink on this card to qualify for that.

On 365 Amy used the 'one in a melon' download image from The Cutting Cafe and this is what I've used too for my card, with K & Co Berry Sweet papers - with the glittery band on white, green and pink card from DCWV (sorry that the glitter doesn't show up as well as irl). The melon is coloured with copics.

Engagement card

Yesterday (day 88) on 365 cards the theme was: 'quite a pear' and the challenge was to make either an engagement or an anniversary card. Kristie had made her card using a download from the 'fruit' collection on The Cutting Cafe. Having seen an image from this on day 87 as well, I couldn't resist buying the download and using the pear for my card.

I'm also linking (very late) for 'C is for ...' on Alphabet Challenge Blog - my 'C is for a card coloured with copics' (I suddenly realised that I could have chosen quite a few cards for this previously, but hadn't thought about copics for the prompt).

The BG offbeat papers I've used seemed a perfect match and the pear was coloured in with copics, using the colours on challenge 15 at Copic Colour this week: R59, YG63 (had to substitute this with other greens) and C3 - so I'm also linking for that challenge:

Salt: The work of the Holy Spirit

For our Salt challenge for this coming fortnight, Kim chose 'the work of the Holy Spirit' as the topic, which, of course, is very appropriate as this coming Sunday is when we celebrate Pentecost - the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the early church. You can read what Kim wrote here.

For my LO I've used Dream Street Simply Stated papers and stickers, part of a Bubbly Funk kit bought a while ago. The main background is Dear Diary and the journaling shape has been cut from Grapevine gossip overlayed with Elegant Expressions printed with the worship song.

The dove was cut from a K & Co Brenda Walton Swirl Embossed vellum.

Sorry, photos are a bit blurry, but you can read better if you click for larger image:

Please take a moment to have a look at the Salt
blog and see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team - and we would love you to leave a comment and perhaps join in with a link to your creation.

'You are there ...

... and I am here'

This was the theme of day 66 on 365 cards: A Sentiment #2, which is the only challenge that I needed to catch up (with except today's and I haven't done that).

I deliberately left this one, thinking it would be a good card to make when John goes back into hospital, which he has today.

I've used Forever Friends papers and 3d stickers, so I'm linking for this week's challenge: buttons and bows (because the papers feature these).

Challenge 8 on Truly Scrumptious is 'to make a card with more than one fold', so this also qualifies for that. Challenge 64 on Paperminutes is also to make a 3-fold card.

And I know that I ought to be going to bed rather than sitting here, but I really wanted to get this done so I could take it to John tomorrow.

Update: I thought it would be a good idea to have an area to write my message without it being readily on show, so I've incorporated a flap up piece - it is fastened with velcro so it can be lifted up and then secured back down again:

Buttons and poppies

Day 85 on 365 was another super sketchy Sunday, with this sketch:

I've combined this with challenge 50 on Penny Black: 'buttons galore. The PB stamped image is 'poppy fields', coloured with copics.

Monochrome Turquoise

This card is for challenge sketch 63 on Paperminutes:

I've used a Pollycraft background download 'winter blues' (I lightened it for the label and circle) so I'm submitting this for Sue's challenge 16 on Pollycraft: monochrome.

I chose a worship song that had the word 'eye' in it for today's 365 challenge 87: 'the "eyes" have it' - Use the word "eye" somewhere on your card. You can read the words of the song if you click on the picture to enlarge.

The theme for challenge 12 on Creative Card Crew is 'pretty flowers' so this card is for that challenge too.

New challenge site with candy

A new challenge site is launching on 1 June - The Next Level - and there is candy on offer if you become a follower and link to the site.

And yet more circles!

This card uses the sketch on Inspirational Card Sketches 17:

And is also for today's 365 cards: 'this will be grape fun' - where we were challenge to use purple as the primary color, and incorporate at least 5 circles on your card.

So, here is another card with lots of circles, although mine are not grapes, but they are purple. Papers are DCVW pocket full of posies.

The thistle stamp has been heat embossed with gold and coloured with purple copic. Deanne's challenge 36 on Rosiedee this week is to show some embossed stamping.

Quick card

This is a very quick card for a couple of challenges:

Everybody Art 40: 'red/black'

Crafty Muse: 'black, white +??'

I hope in both cases that I'll be forgiven for a touch of green as well.

Circles and yet more circles

This card is for this template for challenge 28 on Lili of the valley:

It's also good for these challenges:

Daisy, Dandelion and all their friends: challenge 11:'circles' - add as many as you can to your card - and a Daisy and Dandelion image.

Paper Blooms: 8: 'red, white and blue' (this is my first time at Paper Blooms).

Basic Grey: challenge 36: 'doodling' (with white pen around the edges of the card) - the papers are all BG boxer.

Recycling a quiche tin foil dish

I came across Unscripted Sketches and this is challenge 07 atm:

I decided to use the base of an individual quiche tin foil dish with cuttlebug embossing. The circle uses d'vine swirls and has been inked with stazon violet and the strip across the bottom is from the rim of the foil dish and was embossed with one of the border folders.

I had to use lots of little mauve brads on the circle because it wouldn't stick down on to the flower, which, btw, was originally white, so I just swiped it with the violet ink pad to match. The PP is DCWV pocket full of posies. The purple background is a lovely satin sheen.

Day 54 on 365 cards was 'recycled elements', so this card qualifies for that.

This card is also good for Joanna Sheen's May challenge: 'recycling', for The Cuttlebug Spot challenge 31: 'embossing something other than paper' and also for the Alphabet challenge I is for ... inking.

It was difficult to get a photo because of the reflection on the foil, so I'm showing two different angles (as is often the case, you can see the embossing and inking better if you click on the pictures to enlarge):

Inchy by inch Birds

This week's theme on Inchy by Inch is 'birds', so I've used my Hero Arts night owl stamp, stamping him on to a piece of Be Blessed paper - you can see where it was taken from in the second picture. Colouring is with copics:

Inchy by Inch F inchies

Last week's prompt on Inchy by Inch was F for inchies. I combined two or three pieces from Crafty Individuals papers, inked and added the F:

Something completely different: Twinchies 2: pink and green

I've made two twinchies for this week's challenge on Something Completely Different.

I used a piece of unknown pink paper that had a heart pattern on it and then stamped with the large Tim Holtz stamp with Brilliance pearlescent ivy and cler embossed. I liked the pattern it gave on top of the pink patterned paper because the slightly darker pink of the hearts just subtly shows through in places.

The images are taken from Crafty Individuals People & Places Miniatures.

I'm also linking for challenge 30 on One Stop Craft: 'vintage'.

Here they are with the Tim Holtz stamp that I used:

Layered stamping

This is the sketch for day 71 on 365 cards super sketch Sunday:

and this is my take on it, using Joanna Sheen stamps and some card offcuts.

This is also being linked for Rosie's challenge 35 on Rosiedee.
